A new Shazam music recognition feature was added to Control Center as part of the iOS 14.2 beta released to developers on Thursday.
The new feature enables direct access to Shazam from the iOS Control Center, keeping the music recognition tool handy at all times.
Use Music Recognition to Identify Songs in iOS 14.2 The Music Recognition feature is the system-level integration of the Shazam app in iOS 14.2. If you remember, Apple acquired Shazam a while back and has been slowly integrating it with iOS. The integration is quite powerful and different from the Shazam app. Even if it's just because you're too embarrassed to loudly ask Siri what the name of a song is, the new Music Recognition tool is a welcome addition to Shazam on your iPhone. Don't Miss: New Features & Changes in iOS 14.2 for iPhone; Adding the Shazam Button to Control Center. The Music Recognition control is opt-in, so you'll need to add it. Apple 's iOS 14.2 update for iPhone adds 'Shazam' to the Control Center, allowing users to easily identify new songs. While the music identifying app is already extremely successful, this update will make it even more streamlined and will further integrate the app into Apple's software.
Ios 14.2 Update Review
When activated, Shazam will listen for music playing in the surrounding environment, as well as through system speakers or AirPods. Recognized songs are displayed as a notifications which, when tapped, open the track in Apple Music if available.
To access Shazam music recognition, beta users must navigate to the Settings app and toggle the 'Shazam' option under 'More Controls,' reports
Apple purchased Shazam in 2017 for a reported $400 million. Today's iOS 14.2 beta feature marks the first comprehensive integration into an Apple product beyond Siri.
